In her artistic work, Antonia creates narratives in which historical events and narratives act as tools and spaces from which to reflect on the present. Through film, photography and installations she examines, deconstructs, questions and reinterprets collective histories, prevailing values and historical conflicts, arising for example as consequences of colonialism. Through these various forms of engagement, her work creates effective tools for representing historically stereotyped, oppressed and marginalized histories and identities.

Antonia Cattan holds a BA in Cinema from PUC-Rio de Janeiro and an MA in Fine Arts from the Universität der Künste UDK Berlin by Prof. Hito Steyerl. She works as a film director and visual artist.
